“Let’s start a cold water business,” I said. “It’ll be fun!” I said…
When I first had the idea for Chill to Fulfill, it seemed so simple. I had the perfect
secluded spot in my garden—where my son’s trampoline was. All I had to do was
persuade him to part with it, throw down some grass seed, and voilà—cold water
therapy, here we come!
Of course, it wasn’t quite that easy…
The garden wasn’t level, it was full of weeds, and the walls needed a fresh coat of
paint. My partner and I had a bright idea—why not deck part of the area for the cold
water tub and steam tent? Perfect! Except, it wasn’t quite that straightforward. The
grass needed levelling before we (the royal we) could even think about laying pallets.
Then came the decking, which had to be bought, cut, and fitted. And because we
were only working on it at weekends, my ‘quick fix’ turned into a much bigger job
than I’d imagined!
Once the decking was sorted, we painted the walls, tidied up the plants and shrubs,
and gave the space a clean-up. Then, I had another idea, I wanted a proper
changing area. So, my humble little shed was transformed into a cosy changing
space, complete with robes, towels, and water shoes for dipping into the tub, it even
has power and points to charge phones, everything you could possibly need!
Next, we set up the cold water tub… and realised it was too small. So, we bought
another one. Then, we put up the steam tent—finally, we were getting somewhere!
But while testing everything, we hit another snag… if it rained, the steam tent would
get wet, totally ruining the whole heat contrast experience. The solution? A canopy to
cover the steam tent while still keeping the cold water tub fully exposed to the
elements. Then came grab rails, hooks for dressing gowns… the list went on!
Finally, the cold water therapy area was complete! But it still needed a name. After a
lot of brainstorming and trying out different ideas, a friend suggested Chill to
Fulfill—and it just clicked. It perfectly summed up what I was creating.
With some funding secured, the Chill to Fulfill website was built, the Facebook group
was launched, the Google page went live, and everything started coming together.
And here we are—on 15th April, I’ll be relaunching Chill to Fulfill, bringing my cold
water therapy vision to life, eight months after I first had the idea!
It might not have been as easy as I first thought, but it’s been totally worth it. I can’t
wait to welcome people in and share the experience!
